Our Vision and Values

Kelvedon St Mary’s is a high performing academy that is united with the Canonium Learning Trust by our shared purpose:

To provide every child with the very best education possible.

At Kelvedon St Mary’s Church of England Primary Academy, Nursery and Autism Support Centre, the very best education possible demands a curriculum that is designed:

To inspire wisdom and possibilities.

Influenced by the Church of England’s vision to educate for ‘life in all its fullness’ (John 10:10), our focus on wisdom prioritises the spiritual, physical, intellectual, emotional, moral, and social development of our children. With a golden thread of deep knowledge, critical thinking, strong communication and exciting learning opportunities running consistently throughout our curriculum we set children on a pathway that sees them gain experience, knowledge and good judgement. This enables every child to not only achieve highly but also equips them with the cultural capital required to add value and thrive in our evolving world and society.

Accompanying our focus on wisdom is our desire to dream big and wonder about the possibilities that lie ahead. Our school motto, ‘make the impossible possible’ invites adults and children alike to flourish with a remarkable mindset that dares them to keep getting better. With effort, evidence-based practice, innovation and collaboration we achieve more and develop a resilience against setbacks that are part of the learning process. Our carefully crafted curriculum is fearlessly flexible so that children and adults can make the most of every opportunity that comes along and truly strive for excellence.

Our staff team is our greatest asset. We relentlessly go over and above to get to know each unique individual and build a positive relationship between home and school. Together, we build strong habits for learning and create an enabling environment that values diversity, equity and inclusion. Our commitment to treating everyone as a unique individual is based on the teachings of Jesus, and the stories he told. Our bible verse provides a living example of how we choose to live our lives -  ‘We show love and compassion for others by truly helping them, and not merely talking about it.’ (1 John 3:18). Our commitment to this ensures Kelvedon St Mary’s remains a happy, ambitious and successful school. Together, our pupils, parents, staff and governors work hard and support each other to sustain a professional and positive learning community.

As a proud Church of England school, our vision and all that we do is underpinned by our school values that have been chosen by our school community. To ourselves and others, in our learning and our environment, we show:

Kindness

Respect

Honesty
