Music Lessons

Essex Music Services (EMS) deliver peripatatic music lessons to pupils in KS2 at Kelvedon Academy. Lessons are taught during the school day by tutors that visit the school to deliver the lessons. Learning a musical instrument can have many positive effects on a child’s social, personal and educational development as well as giving them a great sense of enjoyment and achievement.

Instruments taught at Kelvedon Academy are piano, drums, guitar, violin, flute and clarinet.

Payment and Stopping lessons

Once you have registered your interest your child will be placed on the waiting list. As soon as EMS have matched up your child with the most appropriate tutor that visits Kelvedon Academy they will email you and invoice to pay directly to them. You will have 2 weeks to make payment and if timely payment is not made, lessons will be cancelled. Please ensure that payment goes to Essex Music Education Hub, not to your child’s school.

Once registered and matched with a tutor, tuition will continue until you give notice to stop. You are liable for the term’s tuition. Parent Terms and Conditions

If you wish to cancel (‘discontinue’) your child’s lessons, notice must be provided to them via email to MusicHub@essex.gov.uk or by using the ‘discontinue’ feature within SpeedAdmin by at least half term to finish at the end of that term. Full details are available in the terms and conditions.

The Essex Music Service Team can be contacted by calling 0333 013 8953 (General Office) or via their website www.essexmusichub.org.uk

Please direct all queries regarding music lessons to EMS rather than the school office.

Please note, that if the EMS teacher is absent for any lessons then the lesson will be either made up later that term or refunded. If your child is absent from school on the day of the lesson, or forgets to go, the lesson is lost. Essex Music Services state, that if the child is on a school trip, then the lesson is lost, but if you advise them in advance, the tutor will try their best to change the day of the lesson.

You will be notified (by the school) of the specific timetabling of lessons during the first full week in September.

Class teachers are informed of lesson times, but it is the child’s responsibility to remember their lesson. Timetables are displayed on the music notice board, along with any changes in lesson time – the children need to look at the board regularly for any changes. If your child’s lesson is during lunchtime it is probably best to have a packed lunch.
