Social Justice and Responsibility

We believe courageous advocacy begins with recognising that everyone matters. Inspired by Jesus' example, we encourage our pupils to notice when others are excluded, treated unfairly or face challenges, and to ask how they can help bring about positive change. Sometimes this means fundraising or serving others; sometimes it means showing compassion, speaking up for someone, protecting God's creation or simply ensuring that everyone feels they belong.

Guided by our vision of Together we inspire possibilities. Together we share joy. Together we belong., we want our children to understand that making a difference starts within our own community. By encouraging one another, welcoming others and celebrating each person's unique gifts, children develop the confidence to become courageous advocates beyond the school gates.

We want every child to leave Kelvedon St Mary's believing they can be an agent of positive change - someone who notices injustice, responds with compassion and takes action to build a fairer, kinder and more hopeful world.

Children at Kelvedon St Mary's have many opportunities to live out our Christian vision through service, leadership and community action.

RotaKids

We are incredibly proud of our long-standing partnership with the Rotary Club of Kelvedon and District. Our RotaKids play a leading role in many of our fundraising and community projects, developing leadership skills while learning that even small acts of service can make a significant difference to the lives of others.

Caring for Our Community

We support local and national charities throughout the year, responding to needs within our community and beyond. We also enjoy strong links with St Mary's Church and the wider village community. Our regular visits to St Dominic's Care Home help children build meaningful relationships across generations, bringing joy to others while developing empathy and compassion.

Pupil Leadership

Through our School Council, Holy Council, RotaKids and Sustainability Council, children are encouraged to share ideas, influence school life and respond to issues that matter to them. They learn that their voices have value and that they can work together to improve their school, community and wider world.

Caring for God's World

Through environmental projects and the work of our Sustainability Council, pupils learn about their responsibility to care for God's creation and consider how their everyday actions can protect the world around them.

Celebrating Courageous Advocacy

Many of our children demonstrate remarkable compassion and generosity beyond the school gates by raising money for charities, supporting community projects or taking part in events that are important to them and their families.

We love celebrating these achievements in school and encouraging others through their inspiring stories. If your child has taken part in a fundraising event, community project or another act of courageous advocacy, we would be delighted to hear about it. Please share photographs and details with us so that we can celebrate their achievements and continue to encourage one another to build each other up.
